Tateo Nakajima is the leader of a highly creative and passionate team at Arup that has a primary focus in the design of the world’s best performing arts facilities. His practice engages deeply in the way spaces for arts, culture and entertainment shape and support the continuing evolution of our collective identity and the ongoing sustainability of our communities.
Tateo’s belief that ‘Design matters’ drives a need for his work to positively impact the lives of people through making great, impactful and memorable cultural experiences possible. He believes the profound way technology is changing our world and the way we interact with each other plays a key role in how art forms are experienced, and arts organisations operate.
His work globally relies upon an appreciation both of the diversity of our world and its seemingly infinite variations and the common humanity that bind us all in facing very human challenges and needs. His integrated, holistic, aspirational, and yet pragmatic approach inspires work with diverse clients and communities as they look for the right solutions for their individual circumstances.
