Chris Mercer is a Senior Venue Consultant within Arup’s Arts and Culture team. He provides organisational strategy, feasibility and design advice to a broad range of clients in the creative industries and works closely with Arup’s global venues team on spatial program and technical system design for theatres, museums and indoor sports arenas. He has a passion for sustainability and finding opportunities to define and implement best environmental practice into the design and operation of cultural spaces.

He has a broad range of experience as a Producer, Production Manager, Artist and Consultant for live performance organisations across the globe including serving as Head of Production for the Sydney Theatre Company. As a production manager he has worked for the National Theatre of Great Britain, Sonia Friedman Productions, Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir Theatre, Chunky Move and Lucy Guerin Inc. in addition to touring extensively relighting works on the West End and major international arts festivals.

Chris has worked with high profile creative teams from around the world and takes pleasure using his experience and sensitivity to build and nurture strong relationships.
